Polish Registry of Congenital Malformations

Since 1997, Poznan University of Medical Sciences is the only state operator of Polish Registry of Congenital Malformations. It is the unique registry in Poland and the largest one in Europe. The registry is managed by academics working at Department of Medical Genetics, PUMS.

Polish Registry of Congenital Malformations (PRCM) is is the only recognizable database in Poland and in the world that collects information about newborn children diagnosed with genetic diseases. It is an excellent starting point for obtaining any statistical information, including monitoring of rare diseases. Thanks to its goals and contact with health care units throughout the country, the role of PRCM in Poland is equivalent to those played by special government programs in other countries. Since 2001, PRCM belongs to the EUROCAT consortium.
