ENTRY TO POLAND AND STAY UP TO 3 MONTHS:

EU CITIZENS: based on an ID card or passport

Family members who are not EU citizens: based on a passport and one of:

  • - residence card issued by another Schengen country,
  • - visas (to stay/join an EU citizen)
  • - in visa-free travel

Exempt from the obligation to have a work permit

STAY LONGER THAN 3 MONTHS:

EU CITIZENS; Registration of stay at the voivodeship office (Wielkopolski Urząd Wojewódzki w Poznaniu, Al. Niepodłegłości 16/18, 61-713 Poznań), registration is free and unlimited

At the latest, on the next day after 3 months from entering Poland

Required documents:

  • Application, ID card/passport (+1 copy),
  • In the case of work, contract with the employer

Stay over 3 months; family members who are not EU citizens are obliged to obtain a family

member’s residence card EU citizen.  At the latest, on the next day, after 3 months from entering Poland.

  • Required documents:
  • Application, travel document (+1 copy),
  • certificate of residence registration, an EU citizen in Poland with whom a family member resides, file for marriage,
  • birth certificate,

Certificate issued on site: residence card within 6 months. The residence card is valid for up to 5 years.

The procedure is free of charge.

ENTRY INTO POLAND THIRD COUNTRIES:

Foreigners can enter and take up work based on:

  • a visa or residence card issued by another Schengen country, up to 90 days in each, 180-day period „access to the labour market”,
  • visa-free travel up to 90 days/180 days – ( some countries without 180 days)

  • Schengen visa – stay up to 90 days (valid up to 5 years),
  • A Polish national visa can be issued for a maximum of 365 days with a ban on working on a tourist visa and to visit family/friends

 

HOW TO GET A VISA

- a foreigner applies for a visa at the Polish embassy or consulate abroad,

- based on a visa, a foreigner may stay (and work) in Poland for the period of validity of the visa and travel to the other Schengen countries for 90 days/180 days,

If a person wants to stay longer, the person must legalize the stay in the voivodeship office ((Wielkopolski Urząd Wojewódzki w Poznaniu, Al. Niepodłegłości 16/18, 61-713 Poznań),) no later than on the last day of validity of the visa,

 

UPON ARRIVAL, LEGALIZATION OF STAY

Legalization stay  - THIRD COUNTIES

After obtaining a temporary residence permit for over 3 months,

WHERE – at the voivodeship office – (Wielkopolski Urząd Wojewódzki w Poznaniu, Al. Niepodłegłości 16/18, 61-713 Poznań),  by the place of residence,

WHEN – no later than on the last day of legal stay in Poland – not recommended due to long waiting list

HOW – you need to make an appointment for a specific date or send documents by post.

After submitting the documents, the foreigner’s stay remains legal (official confirmation attached to personal files)

 

PERMIT FOR TEMPORARY STAY AND WORK THIRD COUNTRIES:

Permit issued  for various professions for 3 years – required documents:

  • application + attachment for the employer,
  • contract with the employer (work permit is required),
  • health insurance,
  • a document confirming the source of stable and regular income,
  • place of residence in Poland (rent agreement),
  •  a certificate from the tax office confirming no tax arrears,
  • PIT submitted in the previous year

 

TEMPORARY REGISTRATION OF THE FOREIGNER

EU Countries/EEA/Switzerland

WHEN: no later than 30 days after arrival in Poland,

DOCUMENTS: form, rental agreement, ID card, passport

 

Countries third

WHEN: no later than 4 days after arrival in Poland,

DOCUMENTS: visa/residence card, legal title to the owner’s premises apartment, passport,

WHERE: At the commune, district – URZĄD GMINY, DZIELNICY
